INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

How to install the APK on Android (Sideloading Guide)

Because preview builds are downloaded directly as an .apk file rather than from the Google Play Store, Android requires your permission before installing apps from your web browser or file manager. Select your Android version below for step-by-step instructions.

On devices running Android 8.0 (API level 26, Oreo) through Android 15+, permission to install apps outside the Play Store is granted per-app (such as Chrome or your Files app) inside the 'Install unknown apps' system setting.

  1. Step 101 / 05

    Download the DisabiliTech APK file

Tap the 'Download Android APK' button above using your mobile browser (such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Samsung Internet). If your browser asks for confirmation to download an .apk file, tap 'Download anyway'.

  2. Step 202 / 05

    Open the downloaded file

Once the download completes, tap the notification at the top of your screen, or open your phone's 'Files' / 'Downloads' app and tap the DisabiliTech .apk file.

  3. Step 303 / 05

    Open 'Install unknown apps' settings

Android will display a security prompt stating: 'For your security, your phone currently isn't allowed to install unknown apps from this source.' Tap 'Settings' on that prompt. (You can also navigate there manually via Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps, then select your web browser).

  4. Step 404 / 05

    Enable 'Allow from this source'

Toggle the switch next to 'Allow from this source' (or 'Allow app installs') to the ON position for your browser or file manager.

  5. Step 505 / 05

    Complete the installation

Tap your phone's Back button once to return to the installer dialog, then tap 'Install'. Once finished, tap 'Open' to launch DisabiliTech.

Note on Google Play Protect prompts

During preview testing before public Play Store listing, Google Play Protect may display an 'Unrecognized app' or 'App blocked for your protection' message because it has not seen the preview signature before. Tap 'More details' and then tap 'Install anyway' to proceed safely.

Security best practice

After DisabiliTech is installed, you can optionally revisit Settings > Install unknown apps (or Security > Unknown sources) and turn the toggle back off. Your installed DisabiliTech app will continue to work normally.
